Caroline Ridings is an artist whose paintings move between animal instinct, memory, speed, and disappearance.
Her work often begins with a body in motion, a horse, snake, runner, sculpture, or signal, then distills it into a blurred field of shadow, residue, and light. Through compression, erasure, and atmosphere, Ridings turns recognizable forms into afterimages: images that feel felt before they are fully seen.
Recent work returns to sculpture and older forms, interested in historic beauty made slightly wrong.
